Two-Layer Construction for Warmth and Comfort

The back of the hand uses a two-layer fabric construction combining a stretch windproof and breathable outer material with a brushed fleece lining.

The outer layer helps protect the hands from cold wind while allowing moisture to escape, helping reduce stuffiness during active use. The brushed fleece interior provides a soft, warm feel against the skin.

This combination makes the Shimano GL-071Y a practical choice for winter spinning, jigging and other active fishing techniques in cold conditions.

Three-Finger Cover Design

A key feature of the GL-071Y is its flexible finger-cut design. The thumb, index finger and middle finger can be exposed when detailed work is required, while the gloves remain fully functional for warmth during normal fishing.

This makes them particularly useful when:

• tying fishing knots;
• changing lures;
• handling hooks and snaps;
• working with fishing line and leaders;
• adjusting fishing rigs;
• handling reels and other tackle components.

The finger-opening pattern is designed to reduce the risk of fishing line becoming caught in the openings during casting.

Internal Wrist Adjustment Tab

Shimano has positioned the wrist adjustment tab on the inside of the glove.

This fishing-specific design helps reduce the possibility of the adjustment tab catching the fishing line during casting or lure manipulation.

The tab is easy to pull, making the gloves convenient to put on and remove while keeping unnecessary protrusions away from the outside of the glove.

Reinforced Little Finger

The outside of the little finger is reinforced with synthetic leather to improve durability.

The little finger can act as a support point when tightening fishing knots, so this reinforcement provides additional durability in an area that can experience repeated stress during fishing.

Ideal for Winter Spinning and Active Fishing

The Shimano GL-071Y is a versatile winter fishing glove designed for anglers who want to stay comfortable in cold weather without sacrificing the ability to perform detailed tackle work.

They are particularly suitable for spinning, jigging, saltwater fishing and lure fishing, where anglers frequently need to change lures, handle line and leaders, and tie or tighten knots.
